How Make a fort kit helps kids learn?

How Makeafort works?Makeafort is a creative tool for kids that lets them build and play inside incredible forts, castles, mazes, tunnels and more. Each design starts as a single piece of cardboard. Kids can then fold it up and assemble their own awesome creations.

Kids can start with Makeafort kits or make their own designs from scratch. Each kit comes with easy-to-follow instructions to build the structures shown in the photo gallery. Once built, kids can crawl into the finished structures and play in them.

Tunnels are great for hide-and-seek or hosting secret meetings. Forts are great for playing pirates or ninjas. Mazes are perfect for treasure hunts. Castles are great for setting up obstacle courses or playing knights. And more! It’s all up to you!

With Makeafort you can:

  • Build forts in the real world! Not on a screen!
  • Use wood, plastic and fabric materials from around the house to build.
  • No need to pay for expensive “digital” or “virtual” materials.
  • Collaborate with friends and family to grow your creations together.
  • No need to play alone! Play with friends and family anywhere, anytime!

Why making forts is good for kids?

The promise of Makeafort is that it’s the creative toy box from your imagination. Kids can build things, play inside them, and share their creations with the world. But for parents, Makeafort is about more than building forts. It’s about helping your kids get off screens and play in real life. Parents have to be smart about screen time.

We know there’s no such thing as a free app. But when you see your 3-year-old playing Minecraft for hours, it’s not easy to tell her to put her tablet aside and go outside, even though that would probably be better for her in the long run. That’s where Makeafort steps in.

With Makeafort, kids get to build stuff they want, and then they can play inside it—and they’re outside! They’re running around! They’re using their imaginations! And they’re having fun without technology! Makeafort helps you win the screen time battle by making sure your kid isn’t just sitting there with an iPad or a phone in front of him, but instead has something tangible he built himself and can play with immediately. It’s a great way to help kids channel their energy into creative real-world play.

FAQ

What ages is Make a fort kit for?

The Make-A-Fort Explorer Kits are appropriate for children aged 4 and up. Younger children will require assistance in the construction process. Older people can usually construct on their own.

What is the size of Make a fort kit ?

Each Explorer Kit contains 20 panels that are approximately 2′ × 2′ in size.
With a single Explorer Kit, you could produce a 2′ x 2′ tunnel with three panels and then repeat the process six times to make a tunnel that is about 12′ long.

Alternatively, choose one of our Projects and construct a large fort, maze, or tunnel. A single Explorer Kit can be used to construct a fort that is up to 8′ × 8′ in size.

Alternatively, you can purchase many Explorer Kits to construct massive structures (most customers buy three Explorer Kits).

Is it okay if I use Make-A-Fort again?

To keep things together, the black connectors easily fit into the panel and brace slots. Simply remove the black connectors to dismantle your creation and put it in the included carrying case. On a separate day, create something new.

Is Make-A-Fort simple to store?

Yes, each Explorer Kit comes with a carrying case that is approximately 24′′ x 24′′ x 4.5′′. The carrying case holds all of the panels, yellow bracing, and black connectors. When not in use, store the carrying case beneath a bed or in a closet.

What’s the material?

The yellow bracing and panels are composed of a stronger and more durable cardboard than standard shipping box material. For a comparison of our panels vs. standard shipping box cardboard, see How Strong.

The dense foam used to make the circular black connections. The connectors fit snugly in the yellow brace and panel holes, securing everything in place.

Is it possible to paint the panels?

The characters on the panels were made to be colored with crayons, markers, or even paint. Color the panels way you want them to appear. The panels are also reversible, with the opposite side left blank for you to color as you desire!

What’s the deal with the yellow braces?

The braces can be used to strengthen corners. This is especially important for constructing larger roofs to prevent drooping.

Is Make-A-Fort eco-friendly?

Yes, the panels, bracing, and carrying case are all made of recycled cardboard, and the Explorer Kit can be recycled again at the end of its life.

Where does it come from?

All kits ordered in the United States and Canada are made in the United States of America.
All European kits are manufactured in Europe.

Is it possible to buy multiples to make larger items?

Yes, three Explorer Kits are the most popular Make-A-Fort purchase. While a single Explorer Kit is entertaining, using numerous Explorer Kits allows you to construct even larger buildings.

Is this a family-run business?

Yes, we are a family-owned business based in Wichita, Kansas.

Is it possible to construct outside using it?

The Explorer Kits were created with the intention of constructing temporary constructions inside. Because the Explorer Kit panels are made of cardboard, they are susceptible to rain and wind; yet, customers have constructed outside on days with no wind or precipitation.

What is the cost of shipping?

For most orders in the United States, Canada, and Europe, shipping is FREE and FAST (see their Shipping Policy for more details).
