A must-see hotel in Saint-Tropez

This property is a emblematic place of the Côte d’Azur. Its coat of arms dating from 1669 anchors the Château in the history of Saint-Tropez. It takes its name from the officer Henry Brisson de la Messardière, who offered the castle to his wife, the artist Louise Dupuy D’Angeac, as a wedding present. In 1904, the house was transformed into a hotel and very quickly became a mythical place to stay in “Saint-Trop”. Although the hotel has just been renovated, the spirit of the place remains unchanged.

Lots of style (Photo: Airelles Collection)

The renovation of the Château has relied on the historic charm of this large family home while bringing a touch of freshness and modernity. Interior designer Christophe Tollemer managed to let a lot of light into these large spaces with natural colors. The decor of the Château, and in particular its 103 rooms and suitesis a subtle blend of materials typical of the South: white and gray ochres, Salernes lava and terracotta.

The antique furniture alongside contemporary elements, punctuated with blond wood and ironwork. The best is still the view, which is just as sublime: umbrella pines, olive trees, cypresses, not forgetting our dear Mediterranean.

For those in need of space, the Château de La Messardière has many suites, and also a duplex villa. The latter benefits from a garden and a private swimming pool, and it has the privilege of occupying an entire tower of the Château (over 170 m²). It has a living room, three bedrooms, all with bathroom including a bathtub and a shower.

While the yoga studio calls you for some outdoor sun salutations, a gym fully equipped with Technogym machines takes you back inside. There is also a fitness trail with a view of the Mediterranean and tennis courts. The icing on the cake: the hotel has its own private beach, reachable by a free shuttle from the Château.

Let go at Spa Valmont

As if the sea air were not enough to relax you, the Château invites you to discover the different areas of its Spa Valmont. On more than 1000 m², you can relax from head to toe, and even enhance your summer look at the Maison de Coiffure by Christophe-Nicolas Biot. Everything comes together to let go: nine treatment cabins, hammam, various saunas as well as a beautiful indoor swimming pool. On the magnificent terrace of the large heated outdoor swimming pool, you can relax without noticing the hours pass. The panoramic view of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez is exceptional.

The spa offers donkey milk baths. Rich in mineral salts and trace elements, donkey’s milk is recognized for its restructuring and protective properties. The spa also has a seawater levitation bath in the Royal Suite.

The children’s paradise is here

Faithful to the tradition of Airelles Collection, Château de La Messardière attaches great importance to the well-being of children and adolescents. During its renovation, the hotel therefore decided to dedicate an entire villa of 500 m² just for its guests from 4 to 17 years old. A true summer paradisefree access, with creative and original workshops, always supervised by professionals.

Every day, a new program welcomes children in a setting inspired by pirates and mermaids. With an arcade games room, a private cinema, a swimming pool, a mini-farm, a treehouse, tennis courts, your little ones will never want to go back to school again!

Endless indulgence

The restaurants have also had a makeover during the hotel’s renovation. New concepts, both local and international, are settling on the terraces of the Château de La Messardière. And this, even at the beach or in the village! Indeed, we have the possibility to join the private beach Tropezina garden in Mini-Moke or Rolls Royce.

In a relaxed atmosphere, you can be served all day, with a glass of chilled rosé. Downtown, chef Marco Garfagnini and his Dolčeva restaurant Pan Deï Palais (another property of Airelles Collection) welcomes its guests to taste Italian cuisine with a local influence. Finally, always staying on the transalpine flavors, Zetta offers, at the corner of an alley in the village, pizzettas to share and ice creams to die for.

A resolutely Mediterranean cuisine (Photo: Airelles Collection)

Let’s go back to the Château de La Messardière and its attractive culinary offer: three restaurants with a strong identity. First, the new restaurant Feast and its buffet welcome its guests all day long. On the panoramic terrace, The Japanese Table travels to the Far East with a chic and glamorous concept. And finally, the Inn of the Moors, which is a mythical address in Saint-Trop, serves Provençal cuisine. Over the years, it has attracted big names, like Charlie Chaplin or Brigitte Bardot.

Other celebrities have also gone through the pub 1904. Today, a large menu of signature cocktails can be discovered there, including Fitzgerald’s favorite gin and Picasso’s absinthe. Who knows, you might find your favorite too?
