The French brand Withings has just unveiled a new smart health connected ScanWatch at the CES in Las Vegas.
Resolutely oriented towards smart health connected health, the ScanWatch, that is its name, takes up the electrocardiogram function of the Move ECG, and inaugurates a new functionality for detecting sleep apnea.
Measure blood oxygenation
Under the air of Steel HR, the ScanWatch therefore detects atrial fibrillation and can measure the oxygenation of the blood in order to detect possible sleep apnea, a disease which increases the risks of coronary heart diseases and which concerns 1.5 million adults. in France.
Continuous heart rate measurement is provided by a PPG sensor. As soon as an anomaly is detected by the watch, a notification, accompanied by a vibration, is displayed on the watch screen. The user can then trigger the recording of an electrocardiogram (ECG) ensured by two electrodes located at the rear of the case, and a third, integrated in the stainless steel ring. The measurement takes around thirty seconds and immediately displays the result on the watch screen and in the dedicated application.
The measurement of the oxygen saturation level in the blood is ensured by a SpO2 sensor which performs a continuous measurement during sleep. Upon waking, the user can view the full report of their night in the Health Mate app and find the number of apneic episodes, oxygen saturation, their heart rate while asleep and the number of cardiac events.
In the process of validation for CE standards
With an announced autonomy of one month, the ScanWatch will not be available in Europe before the second quarter in 2024, Withings is awaiting CE validation of medical devices.
It will be available in two colors (black or white), and in two dial sizes: a 38 mm model, offered at 250 euros, and a 42 mm model at 300 euros.
