Is Proscenic M8 Pro robot vacuum worth to buy? Our review: the most successful robot from Proscenic

On this emptying station, there is a small control panel made up of sensitive keys to start cleaning – when the vacuum cleaner is charging – and to return the robot to its base. It also indicates the robot’s autonomy, warns when the dust bag is full or when the automatic emptying starts.

In addition, this robot provides a washing function thanks to a water tank (with a capacity of 0.2 l) and a mop that must be clipped on its stomach. This function makes it possible to remove dust on the surface without really removing the soil, as would a real robot mop.

The cover of the M8 Pro accommodates two buttons: one to return it to its base and the other to stop or start it.

To avoid back pain, it can also be controlled by the remote control (batteries included) which offers additional functions and a range of 3 m. It is possible to manually steer the robot, activate one of the four suction powers or even stop the sound of the vacuum cleaner.

Connectivity and application

For control over a farther distance, it is of course possible to pair the robot with a smartphone and control it through the Proscenic application.

The latter has not changed since our Review of the M7 Pro and has the same features. Starting with a mapping that allows you to see in real time the movements of the robot in the health home. Unfortunately, this map is not at all precise and we struggle to recognize the part that was used for this Review.

This application also makes it possible to delimit very precise cleaning zones by installing virtual beacons. It is also possible to choose the suction level and the volume of water sprayed on the floor (low, medium, high, very high). The “more functions” tab allows you to select a cleaning program, access the history of robot passages or keep an eye on the life of consumables (filter, side brush and brush. main).

Equipped with a vacuum base, the M8 Pro alleviates the chore of maintenance. No need to go back and forth in the trash to empty the waste bin, the suction base does the job. You just have to throw the fabric bag in the trash from time to time (every 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the manufacturer).

By turning the robot on its stomach, we notice that it has only one side brush. It is recommended that you remove it from the appliance regularly to release any tangled hair and hair.

As for the main brush, just remove the grid that covers it to access it. We would have appreciated, like the iRobot Roomba i3 +, that Proscenic used a brush entirely covered with rubber rather than a nylon brush which tends to catch the fibers.

To assess the filtration efficiency, we aspirated 20 grams of cocoa before measuring what the foam filter and the HEPA type filter retained. The faster these filters become clogged, the more often they will need to be dusted in order to maintain suction performance.

The HEPA filter is easily accessible.

Once the automatic collector has sucked in all the cocoa, we see that the HEPA type filter comes out immaculate, while the foam filter has collected 0.4 grams of cocoa. A tiny amount, but which nevertheless requires cleaning it from time to time.

Throughout its journey, as can be seen in the video above, this robot performs methodical navigation: it sucks up the edges of the room before cleaning the interior in a zigzag fashion. We do note, however, that it has difficulty swallowing all the dust along the baseboards or under the curtains – which it considers a wall – and that’s a shame.

It dodges obstacles without problem and gets around very well the legs of the coffee table or the trash can in our room. Still in the distribution of good points, the M8 Pro can be proud of passing over the chair bars without getting stuck or asking for assistance. It can also climb on carpets without too much difficulty.

Surprisingly, this robot was not always able to return to its base on its own when it was in our laboratory and we sometimes had to make it manually return. Fortunately, we have not suffered from this problem in the other parts of our editorial staff.

The Proscenic M8 Pro is very fast. We have measured good suction performance regardless of the Review area.

On hard ground, it does surprisingly better when set to standard mode. It then eliminates 95% of the waste in 4 min 25 s, against 76% in maximum mode in 3 min 35 s.

On fine carpet, it does brilliantly by swallowing 93% of the material in 3 min 20 s in standard mode, and 97% in just 2 min 52 s in maximum mode. A very good result given the short time in this Review area!

Finally, on thick carpet, the Proscenic M8 Pro is still just as efficient and sucks up 84% of the waste in 3 min 20 s in standard mode, and 96% in 4 min in maximum mode.
